On Monday, Google announced significant enhancements to its Gemini-powered offerings, which include the introduction of audio file compatibility to the Gemini app, the addition of five new languages to its search capabilities, and expanded reporting features in NotebookLM.

In a post on X, Josh Woodward, Google Labs and Gemini’s vice president, indicated that supporting audio files was the most requested feature for the Gemini app.

Gemini’s free users can upload audio files of up to ten minutes and receive daily access to five prompts. Premium users with AI Pro or AI Ultra subscriptions can upload audio files of up to three hours. The platform supports a total of 10 files per prompt in various formats, including those contained within ZIP files.

Furthermore, Google Search’s AI Mode now supports five additional languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. This enhancement is made possible by the integration of Gemini 2.5, allowing more users to engage with AI Mode and conduct complex searches in their native languages.

NotebookLM has also seen updates, introducing new report formats in over 80 languages based on user-uploaded documents and media.

(While the Gemini app now includes audio functions, NotebookLM has offered similar capabilities, positioning itself as a research tool to detect patterns within various file types.)

Report formats comprise study guides, briefing documents, and blog entries, along with new features for generating flashcards and quizzes. Users can tailor the report format, adjusting structure, tone, and style, with full availability expected by the end of the week according to company statements.

In recent weeks, Google has rapidly rolled out AI-driven features. In August, Gemini began recalling user details from previous interactions, and free users were granted access to the video generation tool Vids in Workspace. Last month, Google Photos upgraded to the latest video generation software, Veo 3, enabling users to create short videos from still images.
