Microsoft is currently rolling out an update for Windows 11 that introduces AI capabilities within the Copilot app, enhancing the search functionality for files and images. The feature is available to Windows Insiders on devices equipped with Copilot Plus, enabling users to employ more detailed phrases in their search queries.
Users can already utilize the Copilot app to locate files based on criteria such as name, last accessed date, or file type. This latest enhancement allows for more nuanced descriptions, allowing queries like, “find the file with the chicken tostada recipe.” Earlier this year, Microsoft had already introduced AI-enhanced search functionalities on Copilot Plus devices.
In addition to the search feature, Microsoft is also unveiling a new Copilot home experience that highlights recent applications, files, and conversations. When a user selects an app from the “get guided help” section, Copilot initiates a Vision session, scanning the screen content and providing assistance through the app. Users are also able to upload recent images to Copilot and seek additional information about those images directly.
These updates are being deployed through all Insider channels via the Microsoft Store.
