The latest update from Samsung, One UI 8, is now available for the company’s newest foldable devices. Other models from the Galaxy S series are expected to receive the update in the near future. Recently, Samsung introduced an innovative AI-driven feature designed to combat the increasing threat of AI-enabled voice phishing scams. This feature, known as the ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’, is currently being deployed in South Korea and is specifically available for Galaxy users operating on One UI 8, enabling users of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 to benefit from it. The company aims to roll out this feature to additional markets in the months ahead.
Understanding Samsung’s ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’
In an announcement shared on its community forum, Samsung detailed the capabilities of the new ‘Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert’ feature, which will be integrated into the stable One UI 8 update in Korea. A representative from Samsung stated that users will be informed of a “detecting” message when attempting to call an unsaved number. This feature is currently available in the Korean language and is applicable to outgoing calls only.
The post explained, “When calling an unknown number, we detect and notify you in real time using AI whether there is a suspicion of voice phishing.” In the event of a identified risk, users will receive immediate alerts via sound and vibration.
Samsung has elaborated that the Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert feature leverages data from both the National Police Agency and the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to deliver its services. Images illustrating the feature, translated using machine translation, were also shared in the announcement.
Activating Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alerts on One UI 8
To enable the Voice Phishing Suspected Call Alert feature, users should navigate to the phone app and select Settings > Voice Phishing Suspected Call Notification > Voice phishing suspected call notification.
The feature is currently restricted to Samsung devices with the stable version of One UI 8, meaning that it is presently limited to the latest foldable smartphones from Samsung. Users eager to access this feature can verify their One UI version by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install to seek out any available updates.
At this stage, the Voice Phishing detection feature is exclusive to South Korea. While Samsung plans to extend it to users worldwide, the timeline and scope of the rollout remain undetermined.
Samsung debuted its Android 16-based One UI 8 build last month during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event. The newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE models come preloaded with this updated interface. Additionally, Samsung’s One UI 8 Beta program is now available for select Galaxy flagship models, with plans to make it accessible for the Galaxy S24 series and last year’s foldable devices in the upcoming weeks.
