Recent leaks and reports have provided insights into the expected features of these upcoming models. According to a new leak, the iPhone 17 Pro may come with increased storage options compared to its predecessor, though the starting price of the device is also expected to rise.
iPhone 17 Pro to Omit 128GB Version
In a post on Weibo by leaker Setsuna Digital (translated from Chinese), it is suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro may start with 256GB of storage. The tipster indicated that the initial price could be $50 (approximately Rs. 4,400) more than the existing model, implying that Apple might eliminate the 128GB variant for this Pro model. If confirmed, this change would provide a rationale for the higher starting price.
The current iPhone 16 Pro offers storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. In the Indian market, the price for the 128GB variant begins at Rs. 1,19,900, while the 256GB and 512GB versions are priced at Rs. 1,29,900 and Rs. 1,49,900, respectively. The premium 1TB iPhone 16 Pro carries a price tag of Rs. 1,69,900.
The anticipated iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature an A19 Pro chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM. Additionally, it may implement a new vapour chamber cooling system. The device could also have a new scratch-resistant display with an anti-reflective coating. On the camera front, the iPhone 17 Pro is likely to boast a 48-megapixel telephoto lens capable of up to 8x optical zoom.
A prototype test unit of the iPhone 17 Pro was recently observed online, along with leaked images of its battery. Both the iPhone 17 Pro and the entire iPhone 17 lineup are set to be unveiled on September 9.
