The first open beta for Battlefield 6 kicked off in early access on Thursday, and initial player turnout suggests that EA is poised for success. With over 300,000 players logging in simultaneously on Steam, the game’s servers have reached full capacity. In response to this high demand, EA announced plans to significantly enhance the server capacity for Battlefield 6. Currently, the beta is accessible to players who opted for early access, with the general public able to join starting this weekend.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Early Access Now Live
Statistics from SteamDB indicate that the open beta achieved a peak of 334,549 concurrent players shortly after its early access launch on Thursday. At the moment of reporting, more than 145,000 players are still online. This number only accounts for Steam users; the total player count across platforms like PS5 and Xbox Series S/X is likely even greater due to the availability of early access on those consoles as well.
Early access to the first open beta was granted to players who registered for Battlefield Labs before July 21, as well as EA Play Pro subscribers. The open beta will be available to all players from August 9 to August 10.
Many users have reported experiencing busy servers and lengthy wait times when attempting to access the game. EA has acknowledged these challenges and is actively working to address the issue by enhancing server capacity.
“The team is now working on a substantial increase in server capacity, which will reduce your time in the queue. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to get as many of you into the game as soon as possible,” the official Battlefield Communications account stated on X.

Improvements in server performance have been noted since the initial issues arose. EA reported that queues were returning to manageable levels, expressing gratitude for the community’s patience during the situation. “We’ll continue to monitor queues and server capacity, and will follow up where needed,” the publisher further stated.
In addition to server challenges, players have encountered matchmaking and login difficulties, as well as infinite loading screens and other bugs. EA is investigating these concerns and is working on solutions. A list of known issues was also published alongside the early access launch, providing players with details and potential workarounds.
Participants of the open beta on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series S/X have access to three maps and five multiplayer modes, alongside a range of in-game challenges. A second open beta is scheduled to begin on August 14, introducing an additional map and three new modes compared to the initial beta release.
Battlefield 6 is set for a full launch on October 10. Pre-orders are currently available through various platforms, including Steam, the Epic Games Store, the EA App, and the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
