A recently deleted GitHub blog post has leaked information about OpenAI’s forthcoming artificial intelligence model, GPT-5. The post mentioned several variants of the model, including the anticipated GPT-5 base model, along with GPT-5 Mini, GPT-5 Nano, and a new GPT-5 Chat variant aimed at enterprise use. Additionally, a GPT-5 Pro model is expected to be available for Pro subscribers, alongside a redesigned interface for ChatGPT.

GPT-5 to Reportedly Be Available to Users on the Free Tier

According to TestingCatalog, the leaked GitHub post provided insights into the impending GPT-5 models. Although the post has since been removed, screenshots were captured and distributed across social media platforms. These details suggest that OpenAI is gearing up to introduce four distinct variations of its next-generation model.

The primary variant, GPT-5, is expected to be accompanied by two additional varieties—Mini and Nano. While specific details about these versions remain unclear, it is speculated that Mini will facilitate quicker response times, and Nano is likely tailored for edge and local implementations.

Furthermore, references to GPT-5 Thinking and GPT-5 Chat have surfaced. While specifics regarding GPT-5 Thinking are not yet available, it may provide an application programming interface (API) option for developers to manage the model’s cognitive capabilities.

The GPT-5 Chat variant, per the now-deleted post, is developed to enhance contextual awareness in conversations and is intended for integration with GitHub Copilot. The full description, as cited by Technology News, characterizes it as “designed for advanced, natural, multimodal, and context-aware conversations for enterprise applications.”

The released information indicates that access to GPT-5 will be extended to all users, although with different rate limits and usage conditions. Free-tier users of ChatGPT will gain basic access to GPT-5, while Plus subscribers will benefit from enhanced features with “advanced reasoning” and increased limits.

Pro users are anticipated to enjoy the GPT-5 Pro model along with even more generous rate limits. Subscribers to the ChatGPT Team plan will gain access to both the enhanced GPT-5 version and the Pro model.

Additional leaked information shared by user @scaling01 on X (formerly Twitter) suggests that GPT-5 Pro may provide “research-grade intelligence.” However, how such functionality will manifest in practical use remains uncertain.

Further claims from TestingCatalog indicate that GPT-5 will coincide with a redesign of the ChatGPT interface. This upgrade is expected to feature a more streamlined prompt bar, a unified button for various actions and modes, and new background color options.

In a recent update on X, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced an upcoming livestream scheduled for Thursday at 10 am PDT (10:30 pm IST). Although specific details about what would be revealed remain under wraps, the extended length of the presentation suggests significant announcements may be forthcoming, with many anticipating the official unveiling of GPT-5 during this event.
