On Wednesday, Motorola revealed plans to incorporate Microsoft’s Copilot Vision feature into its Moto AI suite. The Lenovo-owned smartphone manufacturer stated that this enhancement builds upon their existing collaboration with Microsoft. The integration will enable users of Moto AI-equipped devices to utilize AI-powered computer vision technology in several regions.

Access to Copilot Vision for Motorola Razr and Edge Users

According to the announcement, Copilot Vision will be accessible as part of the Moto AI suite on select Motorola Razr and Motorola Edge models in the US, India, and other markets where the feature has been introduced. Moto AI is currently available on specific devices within these series.

To utilize this feature, users will either need to create a new Copilot account or sign into an existing one. Since Copilot Vision is not an on-device application, it will require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Microsoft will manage the feature, which means its terms of use and data collection policies will be in effect.

Notably, on Motorola smartphones, Copilot Vision can access the device’s camera to analyze the user’s environment and respond to inquiries. Such functionality is not feasible on the desktop version. The feature boasts a real-time, two-way voice mode, allowing users to interact with the chatbot without using their hands. However, it remains uncertain whether the visual assistant can view and assist with content displayed on the user’s screen.

In light of privacy considerations, Motorola emphasized that Copilot Vision will be an opt-in feature, meaning the chatbot will not have access to the device’s camera or microphone until users enable it. Additionally, users will have the option to test the Vision feature prior to signing up for Copilot.

Once integrated into Motorola devices, Copilot Vision is set to compete with Google’s Gemini Live, which offers similar functionalities. Users can also share their screens with Gemini for real-time assistance. Another point of differentiation is that Gemini serves as the default voice assistant for all Android devices, giving it a competitive edge over Copilot.
