Nothing has announced updates to its Essential Space feature, introducing enhancements that simplify the sharing of information on the company’s smartphones. The AI-driven hub was initially launched with the Nothing Phone 3a series in March. Users can utilize the Essential Key located on the device’s side to capture screenshots of their displays, which can then be annotated with either typed or voice notes, all saved within the Essential Space.
New Update Enhances Audio Sharing Features
The tech company, led by Carl Pei, shared details of these updates via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the enhancements aim to make sharing captured content more convenient for users. For those who have yet to receive the update automatically, it is available for manual download from the Google Play Store.
The standout feature of this update is the improved capability to share Flip-to-Record audio clips. Previously, users could record voice notes related to the information visible in their screenshots; now, they can conveniently share these audio clips directly through the hub via the updated share menu of Essential Space.

Additionally, the recent update enhances the ability to share “Memories,” allowing users to share content from the Essential Space in formats such as images, PDFs, or Markdown files, all accessible via the share menu.
In a previous update, Nothing introduced features that allowed for editing existing to-do lists, along with a more detailed page for reminders, giving users the flexibility to modify both the time and content of their alerts. This update also improved the response time of the AI, contributing to increased stability and performance of the hub.
Earlier, the company incorporated the Camera Capture functionality into Essential Space, enabling users to gather information using their phone’s camera. Notably, these captured images do not appear in the main gallery among other photos and videos.
The Essential Space feature was first introduced by the London-based tech firm with the launch of the Nothing Phone 3a series on March 4. Previous reviews highlighted the app’s ability to generate useful summaries for each captured screenshot, while also creating to-do lists based on the screenshot’s contents and associated audio or text notes.
