Nintendo is set to host an Indie World Showcase this week, aimed at providing updates and new announcements regarding indie games for the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The showcase will be streamed live on August 7 on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. This presentation follows the recent Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, which highlighted updates from third-party developers on titles slated for release in 2025 and beyond.
Nintendo Schedules Indie World Showcase
The Indie World Showcase is scheduled for Thursday, August 7, at 6 am PT (6:30 pm IST) and will last approximately 15 minutes. Nintendo promises that attendees will see new updates and announcements concerning indie titles for both the Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2.
While specific details about the games featured in the showcase remain undisclosed, speculation among fans suggests that the event could finally reveal new information about the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong. This action-platformer is anticipated to debut before the holiday season of 2025, although developer Team Cherry has yet to finalize a release date.
The game previously made appearances during the announcements for both the Nintendo Switch 2 and Microsoft’s ROG Xbox Ally handheld earlier this year. Hollow Knight: Silksong is expected to be available across various platforms, including PC (Linux, Windows, Mac), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.
In the previous week, Nintendo’s global development and publishing partners provided insights into upcoming games for the Switch and Switch 2 during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. This presentation introduced fans to Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, the next installment in the Monster Hunter Stories series, along with updates on Switch 2 versions of EA Sports Madden NFL 26 and EA Sports FC 26. Furthermore, new announcements were made regarding Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza Kiwami for the Switch 2, among other titles.
Additionally, Square Enix revealed two new games during the showcase: Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. While the former is slated for a release later this year, the latter is projected to launch in 2026.
