This week, Mac users will be able to play Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, following an announcement from developer CD Projekt Red. The version is set to launch on Monday and will be compatible with Mac models equipped with Apple Silicon chipsets, starting with the M1 and subsequent models. This edition encompasses the entire open-world role-playing game, first introduced in 2020, and includes all post-launch content, including the Phantom Liberty expansion. On Macs, players can look forward to enhanced features such as MetalFX upscaling and spatial audio support.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available for purchase on various platforms starting July 17, including the Mac App Store, GOG.com, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. This comprehensive package will feature the base game, the Phantom Liberty expansion, and additional free updates and content released after the game’s initial launch.

The announcement of the release date was made in October 2024, initially forecasting a debut in “early 2025.” The game will mark the second high-profile title available for Mac, following the earlier launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows earlier this year. Thus, from July 17, players will be able to navigate Night City as V, alongside their companion Johnny, portrayed by actor Keanu Reeves.

Apple has indicated that the game will operate on Mac systems featuring Apple Silicon M1 or later chipsets, with a minimum of 16GB of unified memory, and requiring macOS 15.5 or later.

In addition to its core features, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition boasts specialized support for head-tracked Spatial Audio for those using compatible AirPods. The graphics settings will include ‘For this Mac’ presets specifically tailored to optimize performance for each model of Apple Silicon Mac.

The game will utilize MetalFX upscaling technology, in addition to AMD FSR upscaling. CD Projekt Red has also adapted dynamic HDR settings to optimize visuals for Apple XDR displays, with support extending to external monitors. Players can employ a variety of input devices, including game controllers, the Magic Mouse, and the Trackpad. Cross-progression functionality will allow players to track their progress across multiple platforms, not limited to Mac.

Apple has highlighted that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will incorporate several newly unveiled features from WWDC 2025. This includes Metal FX Frame Interpolation and MetalFX Denoising, which promise gameplay of up to 120fps at ‘Ultra’ settings. Additionally, real-time path tracing will be enabled on the highest graphics quality settings.

Details regarding the minimum and recommended specifications for playing the game have yet to be disclosed. Prior to the Mac version’s release, CD Projekt Red is set to preview the eagerly awaited Patch 2.3 during its REDstream event on July 16.
