Just one day ahead of the highly anticipated debut of Grand Theft Auto 6, a leak has emerged, reportedly featuring footage from the upcoming title. According to GTABase.com on Twitter, a TikTok account under the name ‘azzarossi’ shared a video that provides a sweeping view of the supposed in-game setting, a fictional version of Miami, known as Vice City. The footage includes a prominent Pißwasser billboard, an in-game brand that has appeared throughout the Grand Theft Auto series. Although the TikTok account has since made its profile private, the authenticity of the video remains unverified. However, it does align with significant details revealed in a data breach from the previous year, which disclosed over 90 clips in development.

The TikTok user also shared a photo alongside Aaron Garbut, the head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, leading to speculation that this individual might be the son of a Rockstar employee. While there has been no indication of copyright infringements resulting in video removals from the publisher, this situation brings to mind the often-joked notion of “my dad works at Rockstar/ Xbox/ PlayStation.” If the speculation holds true, the individual may have inadvertently put their father in a precarious position at the studio for the sake of online attention, especially after quickly privating their account. Historically, Rockstar has faced its share of leaks, with an unnamed 17-year-old reportedly arrested last year for hacking related to significant information about the firm.

As this unfolds, Rockstar is gearing up to unveil the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto installment on Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30 PM IST in India, which corresponds to 9 AM ET in the United States. Fans are eagerly anticipating GTA 6, though Rockstar has yet to disclose an official title for the game, leaving open the possibility of a spin-off rather than a traditional numbered sequel. A countdown video is currently live on YouTube, adding to the excitement. There has been no indication of a release date, but a May earnings report from Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, suggested a time frame that could fall within the 2025 fiscal year, which commences in April.

Ambitions for the studio appear to be soaring, as reports indicate the introduction of the first playable Latina female protagonist and an expansion in the number of indoor locations for enhanced gameplay immersion. The narrative is said to revolve around two lead characters, a criminal couple likened to the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, who were known for their bank heists during the Great Depression era.

In the lead-up to the GTA 6 trailer release, online users have been comparing the leaked clips to real-life images of Miami, noting significant similarities. Additionally, Rockstar has updated its branding by modifying its logo and removing the ‘Social Club’ label, although the online multiplayer component remains intact. In other news, the studio is set to release a remastered Grand Theft Auto trilogy on Netflix on December 14, which will be available to subscribers and is expected to feature graphical and mechanical enhancements.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to launch first on the current-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X platforms before being made available on PC, following the trend established by previous Rockstar titles.
