Google has announced enhancements to its Veo 3 video generation model by introducing image-to-video capabilities. On Thursday, the tech company based in Mountain View revealed that eligible users can now input images to create videos using Veo 3. This feature is initially accessible through Gemini’s web interface, while mobile applications do not yet support it. The rollout is limited to select countries, though Google has not disclosed specific locations.

Veo 3 Can Now Generate Videos Using Image Input

In a blog post, Google highlighted that Veo 3 will now be able to take images as input for video creation. This enhancement allows users to generate artificial intelligence (AI) videos based on any reference image they choose. However, there has been some uncertainty regarding the feature’s availability, with Google stating it is being launched in “select countries.” Reports from Gadgets 360 indicate that the feature has not yet been rolled out in India.

Users granted access to this feature can navigate to the Gemini website, select the “Video” chip located beneath the text box, and will find an option to upload images. After providing a reference image, users can describe how they want the video animated, allowing the Veo 3 model to handle the rest of the process.

Google also released a demonstration video showcasing the variety of prompts that can be employed. In this demo, Veo 3 generated humorous scenarios from an image of a cardboard box, including a hamster cooking a meal inside it, a man jumping into the box, and a lift emerging from it.

Importantly, all videos produced with Gemini will include a visible watermark to clarify that they are not authentic videos, along with an invisible watermark embedded using Google’s SynthID technology. This invisible marking cannot be removed or edited and is identifiable only by specialized software designed to read it.

Veo 3 is currently available in 154 countries and territories around the world. Users can access the video generation model through Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscriptions. The Ultra subscription, priced at $200 (approximately Rs. 17,200) per month, is exclusively available in the United States.
