Question What’s Real (QWR), a deep-tech startup from India, introduced its AI-powered smart glasses named Humbl on Thursday. The company claims that Humbl represents the first AI smart glasses developed in India, featuring functionalities that align closely with those of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. The glasses are designed to include an AI assistant capable of recording videos, summarizing conversations, playing music, assisting with navigation, and more. Plans are in place for an official launch later this month, with shipping anticipated to begin later this year.
QWR Launches AI-Enhanced Smart Glasses
In a statement to the press, QWR outlined the focus of Humbl on utility, discretion, and contextual awareness. While the company has kept specific details about the product under wraps, initial impressions suggest that its design and functionalities are reminiscent of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
Humbl can be used as standard sunglasses; however, its distinct capabilities are activated when the user calls out “Hey Humbl.” Upon activation, the AI assistant can capture point-of-view videos through voice commands. It also offers features such as summarizing meetings, setting reminders, providing navigation assistance, and playing music—all operable through voice inputs. Furthermore, the assistant extends its utility by offering real-time translation services.
QWR emphasized that the AI assistant is adept at collecting and processing audio and visual data. The smart glasses feature built-in cameras that supply the AI with visual feeds, enabling it to recognize objects and landmarks, as well as guide users with directions when approaching turns.
Despite these advancements, QWR has not disclosed specific hardware specifications or details regarding the large language model (LLM) utilized by the AI assistant. While the launch is expected to occur this month, the startup noted that actual shipments of the device will not commence until the last quarter of 2025. At present, the startup’s website lacks product details, though promotional videos have been shared on its social media platforms.
Founded in 2017 by Suraj Aiar, QWR specializes in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) technologies. The startup has previously developed and sells two different VR headsets, as well as a separate pair of smart glasses called Aurl, which are audio-based and do not include video cameras.
