xAI unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI) model, Grok 4, during a live stream on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The presentation, led by xAI developers and company founder Elon Musk, highlighted significant enhancements in reasoning capabilities and overall performance across various disciplines. Alongside Grok 4, xAI also introduced Grok Heavy, a multi-agent system designed to tackle complex problems collaboratively and produce superior outputs. In addition, the company launched what it claims to be the most expensive AI subscription to date.
Grok 4 and SuperGrok Heavy Subscription Announced
In a post on X, xAI’s official account hosted a detailed 48-minute live stream in which Musk and his team discussed the features of Grok 4. One notable improvement emphasized during the presentation was the model’s academic prowess. “Grok 4 is better than a PhD level in every subject, no exception,” Musk stated.
The team also demonstrated Grok 4’s capabilities across various benchmarks, including the Humanity’s Last Exam, which consists of 2,500 questions aimed at evaluating AI systems across a diverse array of subjects. According to xAI, Grok 4 achieved a score of 25.4 percent on this assessment, surpassing its competitors, such as Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro (21.6 percent) and OpenAI’s o3-high (21 percent).
Musk further claimed that Grok Heavy, with the incorporation of tool use, attained a remarkable 44.4 percent on the same test, outpacing OpenAI’s o3 with Deep Research (26 percent) and Gemini 2.5 Pro with tools (26.9 percent).
Details regarding the Grok Heavy system remain limited, but it has been described as a multi-agent environment where a variety of specialized agents collaborate to address problems and evaluate multiple solutions to identify the most effective one. This concept appears akin to the open-source algorithm released by Sakana AI earlier this month.
Lastly, the live stream included the announcement of the new subscription plan, named SuperGrok Heavy, which is priced at an astonishing $300 (approximately Rs. 25,700) per month. Targeted at advanced users of Grok, this subscription promises higher rate limits and early access to new features, including Grok Heavy.
