Google has unveiled a series of new AI enhancements for its Android tools, Circle to Search and Gemini Live. The announcement coincides with the release of Samsung’s latest Galaxy foldable devices and introduces upgraded Gemini Live features specifically for Samsung users. Additionally, Google has integrated its search-focused AI Mode chatbot directly into Circle to Search.

AI Mode first appeared in Google Search earlier this year, allowing users to engage with a Gemini-style chatbot to locate information and web links rather than relying on the conventional search experience. Although its availability is still limited, having recently expanded to users in India, Google has now made it accessible on Pixel and Samsung devices via Circle to Search. This functionality permits users to search for content on their screens without needing to switch between applications.

According to a blog post from Google, users can initiate a search by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar, then circling, tapping, or gesturing on the item of interest. If the AI generates a useful response, an AI Overview will appear within the search results. Users can then scroll down and select ‘dive deeper with AI Mode’ to pose follow-up questions and gain further insights regarding their visual search.

Circle to Search is now equipped to assist mobile gamers by providing in-game guidance, a feature Google began testing in January. This tool enables players to access character and strategy information without exiting their games, as well as retrieve articles and videos that correspond to specific moments within the game needing assistance. Google is also developing plans to incorporate AI Mode into the Google Lens app for both Android and iOS devices.

At Samsung’s Unpacked event today, the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Watch 8 series debuted as the first devices pre-installed with Android 16 and Wear OS 6. Enhancing this partnership, Google also announced a Gemini Live update for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which enables camera-sharing capabilities through the cover display. This allows the AI assistant to respond to user inquiries about what it “sees” without the need to unlock the device.

Gemini Live integrations are also being introduced in Samsung applications, including Samsung Calendar, Notes, and Reminders. Google has indicated that support for applications created by other manufacturers will be added in the future. Moreover, Gemini is beginning its rollout to smartwatches using Wear OS 6, covering devices from brands such as Pixel, OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi, in addition to Samsung’s newly launched Watch 8 series, which includes the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra (2025) models.
