Vivo has officially launched its camera-focused flagship smartphones, the X100 Pro and X100, for international markets following their introduction in China. The global rollout primarily targets regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia, where Vivo has established a significant foothold. These new models are set to rival Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series and the forthcoming Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to launch in January 2024.
Vivo’s X series has been synonymous with high-quality camera capabilities for years, serving as the brand’s premium smartphone line until the arrival of the X Fold series of foldables. With the introduction of the X100 series, Vivo continues to emphasize its commitment to sophisticated camera technology.
Vivo X100 Pro and X100 availability and pricing
During its launch event in China, Vivo priced the X100 Pro at CNY 4,999 (approximately Rs. 56,500) for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant, while the Vivo X100 was set at CNY 3,999 (about Rs. 50,000) for the same RAM and storage configuration. According to Technology News, both smartphones will soon become available in Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia and India.
Pricing specifics for these Southeast Asian markets have yet to be disclosed, but details for the Hong Kong market indicate the Vivo X100 Pro will retail for HK$7,998 (roughly Rs. 85,224) for the 16GB + 512GB variant, while the Vivo X100 will be available at HK$5,998 (approximately Rs. 63,917) for the base model. There will be an additional 16GB + 512GB option for the Vivo X100, with potential changes to configurations when the device is announced in India.
Vivo X100 Pro and Vivo X100 specifications
The Vivo X100 Pro and X100 share a lot of core specifications, distinguishing themselves mainly through their camera and battery features.
Both devices sport a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,800 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. They are powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9300 processor. However, the X100 Pro benefits from the latest V3 imaging chip, while the X100 is equipped with the older V2 chip.
The X100 Pro boasts a 1-inch type 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), complemented by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel Zeiss APO super-telephoto lens featuring 4.3X zoom, also with OIS. For selfies, it has a 32-megapixel front camera. The battery capacity is rated at 5,400mAh, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
On the other hand, the Vivo X100 has a standard 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, along with a 64-megapixel Zeiss super-telephoto camera. It also features a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. This model includes a 5,000mAh battery and offers faster 120W wired charging, although it lacks wireless charging capability.
