Last year, Samsung introduced the W25 in China as the local version of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Now, the technology giant appears to be preparing for the launch of its successor, the W26. Ahead of any formal announcement, the forthcoming book-style foldable device was sighted on China’s Compulsory Certification (3C) authority site, suggesting its charging capabilities.
Samsung W26 Appears in 3C Certification in China
A report from Xpertpick indicates that a Samsung device identified by the model number SM-W9026 has been granted 3C certification in China. Given that the previous Samsung W25 had the model number SM-W9025, it is anticipated that the SM-W9026 will be introduced to the Chinese market as the Samsung W26.
The certification listing reveals that the new W26 foldable device will be compatible with a charger identified as model EP-TA800, which supports a maximum wired charging speed of 25W.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and the Samsung W25, have all featured the same 25W wired charging speed. The recent 3C certification also implies the inclusion of satellite connectivity in the new device and notes that a charger will not be included in the packaging.
Unveiled in November of last year, the Samsung W25 served as the Chinese equivalent of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which debuted in South Korea the prior month. The W25 is currently available in China, starting at CNY 15,999 (approximately Rs. 1,90,000) for the base model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is both lighter and slimmer than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6, launching with a price of KRW 2,789,600 (around Rs. 1,70,000) for the configuration featuring 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Similar to the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC and features a 200-megapixel main camera. It sports an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch external screen, with a folded thickness of 10.6mm and a weight of 236g.
Additionally, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at today’s Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to feature a 4,400mAh battery with the same 25W wired charging capability.
