Google is in the process of developing a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature for its iOS application. Reports indicate that the tech company, headquartered in Mountain View, is implementing a functionality that provides AI-generated suggestions as users start typing their search queries. These suggestions aim to enhance the specificity of search queries, allowing for more refined results. As of now, this feature has yet to appear in the global or beta versions of the app, suggesting ongoing development.

Google App for iOS Could Get a New AI Feature

According to a report from Android Authority, this upcoming AI suggestion feature was discovered during a deep dive into the Google app. The teardown revealed the addition of a pencil icon situated next to the existing camera and microphone icons in the app’s text input field.

This pencil icon is intended to launch the AI suggestions interface for users. A demonstration video revealed the potential functionality: tapping the icon opens a larger interface featuring an expanded text box. As users start typing their queries, an icon labeled “Gemini” appears below with the prompt “Generate AI suggestions.”

The video indicated that once sufficient text is input, the AI begins to display contextually relevant words organized into three thematic rows. For example, if a user types “buying a birthday gift,” the Gemini feature might provide suggestions such as budget options in the first row, occasions in the second, and relationship types in the third. Users could then select options like “less than Rs. 5,000,” “anniversary,” and “wife” to filter search results from relevant websites.

It is important to note that this feature is still undergoing testing, and attempts by the publication to access it were unsuccessful, likely due to the server-side functionality not being fully activated. At this time, there is no information available regarding a potential release date for the feature on iOS or whether a similar version is being developed for Android.
