Micromax Informatics has announced a strategic partnership with Phison, a prominent storage manufacturer, to establish a new joint venture named MiPhi. This initiative will focus on delivering embedded storage solutions for businesses across various industries in India, including mobile technology, automotive, Internet of Things (IoT), data centers, and consumer electronics. MiPhi plans to utilize manufacturing facilities spread across four regions to develop hardware optimized for artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
MiPhi to Leverage Four Regional Manufacturing Facilities in India
As stated in a press release from Micromax, the MiPhi joint venture will specialize in creating custom-designed NAND storage solutions tailored to AI use cases. These solutions are expected to demonstrate lower energy consumption and reduced per-token costs during AI operations. Furthermore, MiPhi aims to manufacture storage solutions for enterprise and automotive applications.
The collaboration between Micromax and Phison will be supported by manufacturing sites located in Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), Hyderabad, Noida (Uttar Pradesh), and Telangana. MiPhi also intends to establish nationwide sales channels, ensuring that companies across sectors such as mobile devices, automotive, IoT, data centers, and consumer gadgets have access to its embedded solutions.
Phison brings a robust portfolio of over 2,000 patents and will allocate 80 percent of its operational budget to this joint venture. Micromax, on the other hand, will contribute its local market expertise in product manufacturing and sales.
“By merging our deep understanding of the local market with Phison’s advanced technological capabilities, we are ready to introduce innovative solutions,” said Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics. “With this venture, we aim to decrease the cost of GPU manufacturing by up to 90 percent, offering the lowest per-token cost globally. This effort is set to transform the AI landscape not only in India but also in select regions we have identified,” he added in a statement.
