AT&T has defended its network in response to criticism from President Donald Trump, who claimed the telecommunications giant was “totally unable to make their equipment work properly.” The company is placing the blame on an unspecified “conference call platform.”

On Monday, Trump took to Truth Social to express frustration over technical difficulties during a “major conference call with faith leaders from all over the country,” which he noted included “tens of thousands of people on the line.” He indicated this was not the first occurrence and suggested that if the “Boss of AT&T, whoever that may be,” could step in, it would be beneficial.

Initially, AT&T appeared uncertain about the issue at hand, responding to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on X, stating they had reached out to the White House to “quickly understand and assess the situation.”

Later in the day, at 6:53 PM ET, the company communicated that their “initial analysis indicates the disruption was caused by an issue with the conference call platform, not our network.” They conveyed regret over the delay and committed to investigating the matter further to avoid future disruptions.

The specific conference call platform that AT&T attributes the fault to has not been disclosed, and the company did not provide a comment when approached by Technology News regarding this detail. The White House has yet to respond to inquiries for further clarification.

Following his initial remarks, Trump indicated that the conference call might be rescheduled and noted that “we’ll use another carrier next time.”
