The Fantastic Four: First Steps will debut next month.

Marvel Studios is intensifying its promotional campaign for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, culminating in the release of a final trailer amid heightened anticipation for the film’s premiere next month. Unlike previous trailers, which highlighted the film’s unique 1950s/Tomorrowland aesthetic, this latest teaser focuses on the family dynamic, showcasing an abundance of traditional superhero action as the titular team faces a cosmic threat.

Marvel’s “First Family,” who have not been featured on the big screen since the poorly received 2015 reboot, is set to make a comeback. The movie’s official synopsis reveals:

Set in a vibrant, 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic setting, The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing. The film depicts their struggle to balance their hero duties with their family bonds as they confront the menacing space deity Galactus and his mysterious Herald, Silver Surfer. The stakes rise dramatically as Galactus plans to consume the planet and its inhabitants, turning the conflict deeply personal.

The cast is headlined by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach playing Ben Grimm/The Thing. Matthew Wood provides the voice for their robotic ally HERBIE. Ralph Ineson portrays the colossal cosmic antagonist Galactus, while Julia Garner takes on the role of Silver Surfer. The ensemble also features Mark Gatiss as talk show host Ted Gilbert, Sarah Niles as Lynne, and Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne in undisclosed parts.

Additionally, the character of Mole Man is rumored to be included, and a post-credits scene is speculated to feature Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, the villain in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026). Fans who have seen Thunderbolts* are already aware that a post-credits scene hints at the arrival of the Fantastic Four via spaceship, though Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has clarified that the ship is unrelated to this version of the Fantastic Four.

A teaser released in February showcased the already-famous Fantastic Four living together in the Baxter Building, along with a swift glimpse of Ineson’s ominous Galactus overshadowing Manhattan. Footage presented at the 2025 CinemaCon revealed that Sue and Reed are expecting a child, with their son Franklin making a notable appearance in the final trailer, which also provided the first look at the Silver Surfer. Much of this content was compiled into a trailer unveiled in April.

Will the Fantastic Four manage to triumph against Galactus and protect Earth? Audiences will have an answer when The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25, 2025. This film marks the beginning of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
