Recent reports indicate that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a significant redesign of the rear panel. Unlike the current iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to incorporate an extended camera module that spans the top of the rear panel. A leak shared by a tipster has provided a detailed look at the iPhone 17 Pro from two different perspectives. In contrast, the standard iPhone 17 is reportedly maintaining a design consistent with that of the iPhone 16.
Anticipated Design of iPhone 17 Pro Camera Module
A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) by the tipster known as “Majin Bu” included two images of purported dummy units of the iPhone 17 Pro. The device is showcased in a sleek black color, with the images prominently displaying the revamped rear camera module for both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
These latest dummy units also reinforce earlier indications that Apple will retain the camera ring layout established in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Positioned on the right side of the extended camera module are both the LED flash and the LiDAR scanner.
The left-side view of the camera module offers insights into its thickness, revealing that the camera island protrudes beyond the rear panel. Moreover, the circular camera rings are elevated, positioned in the left corner of the rear panel.
While some reports have suggested that the lower half of the iPhone 17 Pro models could undergo a redesign featuring a combination of metal and glass, this notion has not been confirmed by recent dummy unit leaks. It remains uncertain whether these new devices will indeed sport a redesigned rear panel utilizing both materials.
The same leaker suggested that Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro models may be equipped with a vapor chamber (VC) cooling system aimed at regulating temperatures as the A19 Pro chip premieres in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. In addition, a leaked hands-on video depicting the iPhone 17 Pro Max intimates that it may come with a thicker chassis.
