Instagram has announced the global rollout of a new feature that allows users to comment on posts and Reels using GIFs. Previously, this animated expression option was available only to a limited number of users in select regions. Now, with the wider release, Instagram aims to enhance user interaction by enabling GIF responses alongside text and emoji comments.
Users can activate the GIF feature by tapping the GIF button in the comment section of any post. Although the feature is now accessible worldwide, Instagram will implement the full rollout gradually in India.
To utilize GIFs in comments, users should navigate to the comment section, where a GIF button is positioned next to the text input field. This feature is supported by a GIF library powered by Giphy, allowing users to search for and share relevant animated images directly within comments. The transition to global availability is underway and will reach all users progressively.
In an earlier update, Instagram introduced the ability for users to include up to five links in their profile bio. This highly anticipated feature is designed to assist creators in showcasing a wider array of their work. Users can now incorporate links to their online ventures, various content, and other social media profiles within their bio.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted that the multi-link profile bio was a common request among Instagram users. To add more links, users can tap the Edit Profile button on their profile page, then navigate to the Links section and select Add External Link. This allows for the inclusion of up to five links, which will subsequently appear in the user’s profile bio.
