Sony has unveiled a limited-time promotional campaign that significantly reduces the price of its newly launched PlayStation 5 slim variants in India. The “Summer Sale” initiative provides a discount of Rs. 5,000, bringing the price of the PS5 slim to Rs. 49,990, down from the original retail price of Rs. 54,990. The slim version of the PS5 made its debut in India earlier this month.
As per PlayStation India, this Summer Sale offer applies exclusively to the newly released PS5 slim models, CFI-2008A01 and CFI-2008B01. Consumers can purchase the console at the promotional price of Rs. 49,990 through various platforms, including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and other participating retailers. The promotion is set to commence on May 1 and conclude on May 14, or until stocks are depleted.
Earlier in the month, Sony India had rolled out a discount offer on older disc-edition models of the PS5, with savings of up to Rs. 13,000. This promotion targets the standard PS5 model numbered CFI-1208A01R and is still active until April 30. Notably, the PS5 slim was not included in this earlier promotional offering.
The PS5 slim variant is designed to be thinner and lighter than its standard counterpart while retaining a similar price point of Rs. 54,990 for the disc edition and Rs. 44,990 for the digital edition. This new model boasts a volume reduction of over 30 percent and a weight decrease of up to 24 percent compared to the original PS5. Additionally, it features a detachable disc drive and expanded internal storage, raising its capacity from 825GB in the standard PS5 to 1TB.
This updated console variant was first announced by Sony late last year and became available for purchase in India on April 5. Apart from traditional retail outlets, the PS5 slim can also be ordered through the delivery platform Blinkit, which offers 10-minute delivery in select urban areas.
