The Realme GT series has made its return in India with the introduction of three new smartphones: the GT 7, GT 7T, and the limited-edition GT 7 Dream Edition, produced in collaboration with the renowned Aston Martin car manufacturer. This exclusive model is tailored for automotive aficionados.

Realme is placing significant emphasis on the GT 7 and GT 7T, considering them robust contenders in the sub-Rs. 50,000 price segment. With a multitude of launches expected in the same price range over the next few weeks, consumers will have plenty of options to choose from.

Key features of the Realme GT 7 include a substantial 7000mAh battery with 120W fast-charging capabilities. The GT 7T boasts comparable battery specifications. The GT 7 is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400e chipset, while the GT 7T runs on the Dimensity 8400-Max. Both devices are available in two storage configurations: 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB, with the GT 7 Dream Edition offering an additional option of 16GB + 512GB.

Pricing for the Realme GT 7, GT 7T, and Dream Edition in India

The GT 7 is priced starting at Rs. 42,999 for the base model (12GB + 256GB) and goes up to Rs. 46,999 for the 12GB + 512GB version. The GT 7T, slightly more affordable than its counterpart, begins at Rs. 37,999 and peaks at Rs. 41,999 for the 12GB + 512GB configuration. The Dream Edition is shipped in one variant, featuring 16GB + 512GB, at Rs. 49,999.

Design and Display of Realme GT 7: Competent Yet Unremarkable

  • Colors – IceSense Black and IceSense Blue
  • Dimensions – 162.4 x 76.1 x 8.3 mm; Weight – 206 grams
  • Display – 6.78-inch AMOLED; Resolution – 1264 x 2780 pixels; Refresh Rate – 120Hz
  • Peak Brightness – 6000 nits

Among the three variants, the standard GT 7 presents a rather understated design, lacking standout features. However, it manages an impressive weight distribution, attributed to its substantial 7,000mAh battery.

The rear design, branded as “IceSense Design,” is marketed by Realme as having superior thermal management, capable of regulating temperatures effectively. While this may seem trivial, practical usage reveals a tangible difference, especially concerning performance.

Graphene has been utilized in the rear design of the GT 7 for enhanced cooling.

The back panel, available in IceSense Black and IceSense Blue, conveys a simplistic charm. I tested the Blue version, which effectively masks smudges, making it an attractive option for users preferring to use the device without a case. Despite its robust feel, the plastic frame may detract from the premium perception that users often seek in this range.

The GT 7’s display supports HDR 10+, Dolby Vision, and boasts a 120Hz refresh rate.

The front of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while it also features an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. Weighing in at 206 grams, the phone feels well-balanced, aided by its overall design.

The GT 7 features a vibrant 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1264 x 2780 pixels and 450 PPI pixel density. Its 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 6000 nits enhance multimedia viewing and gaming experiences. The display supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, ensuring a crisp, vibrant presentation of content.

The Realme GT 7T features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Weighing 202 grams makes the GT 7T noticeably lighter than the GT 7. The Racing Yellow color variant weighs slightly more at 205 grams with a racetrack-inspired design element.

The back, crafted from vegan leather, offers a soft touch and claims to resist stains and wear, although it’s difficult to assess this fully after brief usage. The Black and Blue variants retain the graphene cooling feature established in the GT 7.

Moving to the display, the GT 7T includes a slightly larger 6.8-inch AMOLED panel, achieving a resolution of 1280 x 2800 pixels. However, it lacks an LTPO variant and is protected by ArmorShell Glass for enhanced durability. It offers features like Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and a responsive touch rate of up to 2600Hz with a peak brightness of 6000 nits, making it well-suited for media consumption and gaming.

The GT 7T, meanwhile, employs a Dimensity 8400-Max chipset. Both devices support 120 FPS modes for over 20 popular games, a feature I tested with titles like BGMI and COD Mobile. Performance during gaming was stable, although the GT 7 experienced warming after prolonged use, prompting breaks to allow cooling.

In regular tasks, the GT 7 holds its own against flagship competitors, featuring satisfactory haptic feedback and a capable dual-speaker setup for multimedia. The devices reliably connect to 5G networks with the inclusion of Realme’s SignalCatcher technology, which enhances signal reception.

For security, both models incorporate an under-display fingerprint scanner, although an ultrasonic variant would have been preferable, given the trends in premium smartphones.

On the software side, both models operate on Realme UI 6.0, based on Android 15. The commitment to four major OS updates and six years of security updates is commendable, while the UI showcases enhancements like Flux Themes and AI integration in various applications.

Among the innovative features is the AI Planner, which streamlines event scheduling by reading on-screen content. This feature impressed during testing by automating calendar entries based on chat discussions.

Conclusion: Realme GT 7 and GT 7T Recommendations

Positioned as a flagship contender, the Realme GT 7 excels in various aspects, including battery, performance, and camera capabilities. The integration of AI features keeps it relevant against competitors in the segment.

While the GT 7 could benefit from more distinctive design features, the GT 7T catches the eye with its Racing Yellow lineup. For users seeking powerful performance without exceeding Rs. 50,000, the GT 7 serves as a compelling choice. Meanwhile, the GT 7T provides excellent value, belting out features akin to the GT 7 but at a more accessible price point of under Rs. 30,000.

For alternative options, devices like the OnePlus 13R and Nothing Phone 3a Pro 5G present similar features and will be worth considering for those in the market.
