Upcoming Title: Surgent Studios has announced its latest project, a narrative-driven psychological horror game titled Dead Take. Published by Pocketpair, known for the popular game Palworld, Dead Take is set to delve into themes of power and corruption within the entertainment industry. Players can now add the game to their Steam wishlists, with a release anticipated in 2025.

The developers will reveal an “impressive” cast of voice actors in the coming days, as stated in a press release from Surgent Studios and Pocketpair Publishing. Further details regarding the game’s content have yet to be disclosed.
In Dead Take, players step into the shoes of an actor who becomes anxious when a friend suddenly stops responding to calls. The game’s Steam page describes the journey as one that forces players to explore the glamorous yet rotten world of entertainment, leading them to a dark, lavish mansion where their friend was last seen.
The game is positioned as a “haunting single-player narrative shaped by real-life experiences in the entertainment sector.” Players will encounter object-based puzzles, piece together video clips, and ultimately uncover the mysteries surrounding the mansion.
Abubakar Salim, CEO of Surgent Studios, emphasized the sensitive nature of the game’s themes. “We’re being secretive for a reason. The subject matter of this game is delicate, and it hits close to home. When it releases, which will be sooner than you think, I want players to be astonished by what we’ve created,” he stated in the press release.
A brief 20-second teaser video released alongside the announcement showcases the player exploring the eerie mansion and its surroundings.
Dead Take marks the first project from Pocketpair Publishing, which is dedicated to supporting independent developers through funding, development assistance, and publishing. The company revealed its publishing division in January, highlighting its commitment to lending support to game studios, including the partnership with Surgent Studios.
