FromSoftware has announced that Elden Ring Nightreign has surpassed 3.5 million copies sold within just five days of its release on May 30. This co-op action-survival game serves as a standalone multiplayer spinoff of the original Elden Ring. The developer has confirmed plans for a future update that will introduce a two-player mode, which has been highly anticipated by fans.

The sales achievement was shared by FromSoftware in a post on X on Tuesday, where they also detailed plans for ongoing post-launch content, including the much-anticipated Duos mode.
“In addition to the DLC set to release later this year, we will gradually implement new features such as tougher battles against existing Nightlords starting this month, followed by Duo Expeditions in the future,” the studio stated.
The demand for a two-player mode has been particularly vocal among the player community. A mod allowing players to join forces with a friend in two-player co-op is already available on PC. Prior to the game’s launch, director Junya Ishizaki acknowledged that the team had “overlooked” this feature during development, focusing instead on optimizing the game for solo play and three-player co-op.
Elden Ring Nightreign Patch
On Monday, FromSoftware released the first patch for Elden Ring Nightreign, designated as Patch 1.01.1. This update addresses numerous bugs and enhances gameplay stability, making it a friendlier experience for solo players.
Despite reports of matchmaking challenges and the absence of features like Duos mode, crossplay support, and team chat, the game has made a strong impact in the market, selling two million copies on launch day alone. Additionally, it reached a peak concurrent player count of 313,000 on Steam. Over the weekend, the developers provided tips for players experiencing matchmaking difficulties on PC, PS4, and PS5.
Elden Ring Nightreign was launched on May 30 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. The game challenges players—whether in groups of three or on their own—to survive three perilous nights in its treacherous landscapes before facing a final boss.
