Character.AI has rolled out new multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) features aimed at enhancing user interaction with characters on its platform. The California-based company announced the introduction of several tools on Monday, including a groundbreaking image-to-video generation feature that empowers users to create videos featuring their chosen characters. To facilitate sharing and community engagement, Character.AI has launched a new Community Feed, allowing users to share and discover various types of content. Some updates are already live, while additional features are expected shortly.
Character.AI Introduces Scenes, Screen, and AvatarFX
The company unveiled a total of six new features available for immediate use or rolling out over the coming weeks. Certain features will be exclusive to c.ai+ subscribers, while others will be accessible to all users. For reference, the monthly subscription fee for c.ai+ in India is set at Rs. 990.
The first new offering is called Scenes, which introduces interactive and pre-established storylines. These allow users to integrate their characters into predefined narratives, eliminating the necessity to initiate role-playing conversations. This enhancement enables users to immerse themselves in stories seamlessly.
Character.AI will provide a selection of pre-loaded scenes for users to explore, with plans to enable users to create and publish their own scenes later this summer. This particular feature is exclusive to mobile apps and can be accessed through the menu beneath the search option.
Another addition is AvatarFX, an innovative image-to-video generation tool. This feature lets users upload an avatar photo or other images to create videos through text prompts. According to the company, users can produce interactive videos featuring their favorite characters or introductory videos for specific storylines, thereby generating dynamic content. Currently, AvatarFX is available on the web platform and will soon join the mobile applications.
A redesigned Profile feature is also launching for mobile users. This allows individuals to customize their profiles by incorporating their created characters and content, organizing them as they wish. The goal is to enhance the visibility of creator profiles.

Character.AI is also introducing Streams, a feature that allows users to facilitate interactions between different characters. This enables users to select a topic and characters, promoting dynamic storylines or interactions. Streams will be implemented on both web and mobile versions of the platform this week.
In addition, the platform is set to include a new tool for animating user interactions with characters. While specific details remain scarce, it is expected to convert text conversations into visual animations. This feature, however, will be limited to c.ai+ subscribers on mobile apps.
Lastly, Character.AI will implement the Community Feed, a dedicated space for creators and users to share the new content facilitated by these features. The feed will showcase conversations, artwork, videos, and animations that users choose to publish, also serving as a means for discovering new characters. This feature will be integrated into the mobile interface soon.
