CI Games has officially announced a sequel to its 2023 reboot of the action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. Set for a 2026 release, the sequel will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. This announcement comes as part of a contractual agreement with Epic Games, granting the renowned developer exclusive global distribution rights for the PC version of the sequel.
Sequel Confirmed for 2026
The details surrounding the sequel were outlined in a binding term sheet dated June 14. Under this agreement, the Lords of the Fallen sequel will remain exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC throughout its lifecycle. While the title of the game is undetermined, it is currently referred to as “Project 3,” with an anticipated launch in 2026.
The term sheet also emphasized that all rights pertaining to the game and its series, including intellectual property, will remain with CI Games. The publisher retains the rights to release and distribute the game on other platforms as well, which includes both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
CI Games and Epic Games will be working towards finalizing a more comprehensive publishing agreement, which will be disclosed at a later date.
The 2023 Reboot
The reboot of Lords of the Fallen, developed by Hexworks and utilizing Unreal Engine 5, was released in October 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, with availability through both Steam and the Epic Games Store. CI Games reported that the game achieved impressive sales, moving 1 million copies globally within just ten days of its launch. By the end of November 2023, sales had reportedly exceeded 1.2 million units.
In April, the game also received a free update titled “Master of Fate,” which introduced seven new game modifiers that provide players with options to customize their gameplay experience significantly.
