The Xiaomi 15s Pro is set to be unveiled in China on May 22, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet and the Xiaomi YU7 SUV. In anticipation of the launch, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, has provided insights into the smartphone’s design and notable features. Among the highlights is a periscope telephoto camera, which appears to have a focal length similar to that of the Xiaomi 15 Pro. The Xiaomi 15s Pro will be powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary Xring O1 chipset.
Details on the Xiaomi 15s Pro Camera
A recent video on Bilibili (via) features Weibing discussing the smartphone’s camera capabilities, including the distinctive periscope lens on the Xiaomi 15s Pro. Close-up images illustrate the elongated shape of the lens, while internal shots of the mainboard reveal a specific cut-out designed for the periscope camera.
In the video, the Xiaomi 15s Pro is showcased in a sleek black finish. Its camera module, prominently displaying Leica branding, features a square design with a triple rear camera arrangement positioned in the top left corner. An LED flash is located outside the camera module.
Inscription on the camera housing indicates that the telephoto lens will offer a focal length equivalent to 120mm, aligning with the specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Additionally, it will include a 14 mm ultra-wide-angle lens, similar to its predecessor. The new model is expected to have aperture values of f/1.44 for the primary camera and f/2.5 for the telephoto lens, suggesting little alteration in hardware specifications regarding imaging capabilities compared to the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
The Xiaomi 15s Pro is confirmed to feature the XRing O1 chipset. This in-house CPU recently emerged in benchmark tests, demonstrating single-core and multi-core performance levels close to those of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new 3nm processor utilizes a 2+4+2+2 architecture, consisting of two prime cores clocked at 3.90GHz, four performance cores capped at 3.40GHz, and two efficiency cores operating at 1.89GHz, along with two additional cores running at 1.80GHz. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 15s Pro has been listed on Geekbench with Android 15 and 16GB of RAM.
The launch event for the Xiaomi 15s Pro is scheduled for today at 7:00 PM (4:30 PM IST), where it will also be joined by the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra and Xiaomi YU7 SUV during the company’s 15th-anniversary celebration.
