Xbox cloud gaming has officially launched on the Amazon Fire TV Stick, following the release of a dedicated Xbox app. Microsoft revealed plans for this service last month, though the app had not appeared on the Amazon app store until now. Beginning this month, subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can enjoy cloud gaming, allowing them to access a variety of Xbox titles directly on their Fire TV Stick, eliminating the need for a physical Xbox console.

With the introduction of the new Xbox app on the Amazon Fire TV Stick, gamers can dive into their favorite Xbox games without owning a console. An accompanying advertisement from Amazon highlights this accessibility, stating, “you don’t need an Xbox to play Xbox.”
The service is compatible exclusively with Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) models. Players can connect Bluetooth-enabled controllers to these devices for gameplay. To access the Xbox library, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required.
Being a cloud-based platform, the gaming experience is not contingent upon the device’s hardware capabilities. This allows players to engage with demanding games like Starfield, Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. However, Amazon emphasizes the necessity of a reliable internet connection for optimal performance, enabling game streaming and progress saving. The portable nature of the setup allows for gaming on the move.
The Xbox app is available for free on the Amazon app store and supports multiple languages, including Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, and Italian.
This announcement follows Microsoft’s decision to remove one of its popular titles, Forza Horizon 4, from digital retail platforms. The game, which has been part of the gaming landscape for six years, will be delisted starting December 15, and will also exit the Xbox Game Pass service.
