The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was unveiled during the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday. A significant focus of the event was on artificial intelligence (AI), with the South Korean technology leader introducing an array of new AI functionalities for its latest devices. While many features utilize Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, others are driven by Google AI and Gemini. The upgraded Gemini AI assistant is now capable of accessing Samsung apps, enabling it to handle app-related tasks smoothly. These are some of the new Gemini-powered AI features that will be integrated into Samsung’s flagship series.
Gemini-Powered Features in Samsung Galaxy S25 Series
One of the standout enhancements is Gemini’s ability to operate across multiple apps within the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung confirmed that Gemini will now support various proprietary applications, including Calendar, Clock, Notes, and Reminders. In addition, Google’s AI platform will extend its functions to popular applications like Spotify and Google services such as Maps, Messages, and YouTube.

Gemini AI’s functionality has also been elevated, enabling it to execute intricate tasks that generally necessitate the use of several applications. For example, users can request, “Can you find high-protein vegetarian snack ideas and add them to my notes?” After performing a Google search for recipes, the AI will automatically compile the information into a new note within the Samsung Notes app.
Moreover, activation of the Gemini AI assistant has been streamlined; users can now access it simply by long-pressing the power button located on the right side of the Galaxy S25 devices. A newly redesigned overlay will appear, allowing for convenient features such as adding an image and utilizing tools for inquiries about screens, PDFs, and videos.

The Google AI-driven feature, Circle to Search, received notable upgrades as well. A representative from Google outlined that the visual lookup tool can now automatically recognize phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs even when embedded in images. Users can tap a small icon, which will directly lead them to the dialer, email client, or website.
Circle to Search also has the ability to identify music playing on a screen. This feature, which Google has reportedly been testing since August 2024, is now fully integrated with the Galaxy S25 series. Users can utilize the visual lookup tool to identify songs in videos.

Furthermore, Circle to Search now introduces a feature called AI Overviews. This tool provides users with brief AI-generated summaries and relevant links when specific objects, trending images, places, and more are highlighted.
Samsung also announced several enhancements to Gemini Live. The two-way conversational feature has been upgraded to support various formats, including images, files, and YouTube videos. By selecting the new Talk Live about this option, users can engage in real-time discussions with Gemini regarding images or documents, seeking advice or assistance. The AI can also offer insights into YouTube videos.
In the coming months, Gemini Live is set to integrate screen sharing and live video streaming functionalities. These new capabilities were first revealed at the Google I/O event last year as part of DeepMind’s Project Astra.
Additionally, Samsung showcased innovative ways for users to leverage the Gemini AI assistant. For instance, if a user captures an image of a menu in French, they can ask the AI to “scan the menu and recommend something under Rs. 500.” The AI will translate the menu items and suggest options within the specified budget while even facilitating the order in French.
Similarly, users can take a picture of the contents of their fridge and instruct the Gemini AI assistant to propose recipes. The AI will analyze the available items, suggest appropriate recipes, and guide users through the cooking process.
To sweeten the deal, Samsung is providing a complimentary six-month subscription to Gemini Advanced along with 2TB of free cloud storage for consumers purchasing devices from the Galaxy S25 series.
