Google has announced that its Gemini AI assistant will soon be available on a variety of devices, including those with Google TV, cars equipped with Android Auto and Google built-in, Wear OS smartwatches, and Android XR. However, the company has not provided specific dates for the rollout on these platforms, opting instead for broader timelines regarding availability.

For users of Google TV, Gemini aims to enhance the experience by providing tailored content recommendations. Guemmy Kim, a senior director of product and user experience on Android, noted in a recent blog post that users could request age-appropriate action movies for children. For instance, if a parent asks, “Can you explain the solar system to my first grader?” Google TV will present a short explanation, offer an option to learn more, and suggest YouTube videos suitable for kids. The launch of Gemini on Google TV is anticipated later this year.

In the automotive sector, Gemini will transform hands-free communication with Google Assistant by facilitating more natural conversations, as stated by Kim. An example includes the AI’s ability to locate a charging station on the route to the post office that is also close to a park, allowing drivers to take a stroll while their vehicles charge. Additionally, Gemini will be capable of summarizing messages from messaging apps. The assistant is expected to become available on Android Auto in the coming months and will also feature in cars with Google built-in at a later date.

The launch of Gemini on Wear OS will allow users to engage with the assistant naturally, eliminating the need for precise phrasing or the inconvenience of typing on small screens. This feature is particularly beneficial for quick inquiries when time is of the essence, such as when leaving for work. The rollout of Gemini on Wear OS is also slated for the upcoming months.

Finally, users can look forward to Gemini being integrated into the first Android XR headset, developed by Samsung. According to Kim, people will have the opportunity to explore this feature later in the year.
