Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming action-RPG, Avowed, has been pushed back from its original late 2024 release window to early 2025. Microsoft officially announced that the game will now debut on February 18, 2025. This adjustment aims to provide the title some room to breathe amid a crowded lineup of video game releases expected in late 2024.
Avowed Delayed
The delay was communicated via the official Xbox account on X over the weekend. The message stated, “So many games coming! As such, we’re moving Avowed to Feb 18, 2025 to give players’ backlogs some breathing room.”

Originally, Avowed was expected to launch in Fall 2024, though it did not have a specific date until now.
In conjunction with the announcement, Microsoft reaffirmed the release timelines for a number of its upcoming first-party titles. Bethesda’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is still on track for a 2024 release, while the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield is scheduled for later this year.
With this new date, Avowed will be added to a roster of Xbox first-party releases anticipated in 2025, which includes South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Fable.
Furthermore, Microsoft is set to showcase these titles at the upcoming Gamescom event, running from August 21 to August 25. The company plans to feature over 50 games from Xbox Game Studios, Blizzard, Bethesda, and various third-party partners. Avowed, along with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield, will also be presented during theater presentations at the convention.
Avowed was first revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020 and was further showcased in a recently released trailer during the Developer Direct event earlier this year. The title will be available on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and Game Pass when it officially launches on February 18, 2025.
